Barack Obama pledged to end the war in Iraq and defeat al-Qaida and the Taliban in Afghanistan. He ran on a platform to change the country and its politics. Now he must begin to spell out how.

Have you NOW begun to hear echoes in the empty suit?
- 6 votes
What i hear is the unity required to move forward, and i hear the transition team making wise use of these 77 days, i hear the selections of both Republican and Independent advisers to key DOD and economic posts, and the sounds of the execution of all those 'Plans (clearly filling out the suit,) that you refused to read (the details) -such as a 'Dick Lugar' appointment or a 'Nagle' post.... oh, and i hear the sounds of crashing smear-to-fear far-right surrogates into the pit once dug for Obama but now a pit occupied by anti-americans who would never want the Middle-Class to be the 1st voice heard by a unification president.
What turned out to be echoes of the sounding brass and tinkling cymbles by an empty evangelical suit made from a hypocritical swatch of Sadducee/Pharisee/Taliban clerics with a cross.... i hear just sour grapes squishing under the feet of change...

Nelson, didn't you know? Its all laid out on Obamas website. Thats what was pointed out to me at least a hundred times during his campaign by the kool-aid drinkers. Whats with his "hard choices" talk? Why can't he just do it? Is BO now trying to say that is not a plan? Is it really only some sort of wish list to dupe voters?
- 5 votes
Look he doesn't have to do anything......he all but said so last night when he said - Change won't happen in a year and perhaps not even a first term.
Notice the word FIRST.
He's already starting campaigning for a second term and hasn't even been sworn in yet. Yeah - he's not a typical politician!

America as we know it is going to be gone forever. Get ready for more government and more terror.

It is important to go to Baracks website and download his blueprint for America (before it disappears).
Already, on the very night he is elected by duped Americans and God knows who else, he already starts to back away from his campaign promises with talk of hard choices, steep climb, maybe not first year, maybe not first term, etc. He made all his promises with knowledge of what he was inheriting from GW. So I don't want to hear he cant do something because of GW. Hopefully their will be something left of America that the swooning duped Americans will come to their senses for the next elections will take it back. When they sober up I want to be able to remind them of what he claimed. And that includes my tax break.

45% of America watched quitely as a great nation died last nite. It is ironic as we approch the Thanksgiving season that remembers our departure from England for freedom of religion, and a better way of life for our children is now lost. All of our founding fathers hard work, blood and struggle for a better place in this world we gave it away to a bunch of socialist with out a fight. God help us and the world now.

You are all wrong and foolish! Right now President (elect) Obama has already ahead of the game. He has an agenda which is much more than any other president has began with.
This is a new world, with a new global economy! You are right in one respect; the old America full of hatred, division among the races, and bigotry is gone! And good ridence.
This is the here and now. Everyone too afraid to compete on an equal playing field will not like the people's choice for president. But those of us who are working hard to gain the necessary tools to compete and succeed are going to flourish. Our country will flourish! We are on the way to reclaiming our stature and respect around the world.
It will not happen overnight and nobody ever said it would. Although it took only three years for Bush to tear the country apart, it may take longer to get it back on top! The question is are any of you negative nancy's going to join the majority of America and put in the work required to succeed?
Time to put away your bitterness the people of the Greatest nation on Earth have spoken! It is time to get to work!

Fear and hate mongers never stop peddling their self centered goods.
I will simply quote an article which discusses your affliction
http://www.scrippsnews.com/node/37159
In November 1964, the historian Richard Hofstadter published, in Harper's magazine, what would become a famous essay on some disturbing tendencies in American political life. "The Paranoid Style in American Politics" traced the history of what Hofstadter described as "the sense of heated exaggeration, suspiciousness, and conspiratorial fantasy" that, at different points in America's past, has characterized panics over the Illuminati, Masons, Jesuits, Catholic immigrants, and communist subversives...... but much of the conservative movement's energy has always come from the same paranoid fears - the fear of foreign subversion, and of black people.

This article began... "Not since Franklin D. Roosevelt was inaugurated at the depths of the Great Depression in 1933 has a new president been confronted with the challenges Obama will face as he starts his presidency."
The author could use a history lesson.
The economy was WAY WORSE in 1981 when Reagan took office than it is today.
I'm just curious whether Obama will rack up debt on ineffecient social programs faster or slower than Bush racked up debt on an unjust war.
Either way, we're fuqt.
When will America learn its lesson and stop electing Democrats and Republicans?

Partisan politics are alive and well, both sides hate each other and neither the winners or losers in yesterdays election can be gracious. The partisan atmosphere nurtured by the 2 party's who promote division and hatred wont go away because of a leaders great speeches and I might add his supporters and opponents are equally enemies of unity. Already we see a shift away from lofty campaign rhetoric to a more measured approach so the new day is pushed back for a bit as those of us who have experienced more elections knew it would be, I suppose we can expect more ideas for the next election cycle and get ready folks it wont be the party in powers fault that less not more of the promises were kept. Most of the followers will still follow and some will be disillusioned and the new marketing program (campaign) will begin sooner than later. Both party's are so full of crap, they don't want unity any more than their followers do, division, conflict and hate are the bi products of partisan party's, enjoy your crap sandwich!
Democrats do stupid things. Look at Al Frankin. He is within 600 votes of winning! There is a definite lack of knowledge there. Al owes 100k backtaxes and they're trying to squeeze him in on the take! Amazing idiot snapshot.
Here is the real rub - the Washington Post - one of the so-called mainstream media, now says Obama must begin to spell our exactly how he plans to change the country and its politics. Can there be any bigger indictment of the media and how poorly they have done their job informing the voters? Journalism is dead in this country.

The mood on this stream seems to be for a old fashioned lynching. Here there has been a transference of all the ire that Bush and Cheney earned to President elect Obama. This venting among the disappointed supporters of continuing the same half witted leadership this nation has suffered for the past 8 years is probably necessary but it is ugly.

Commonsense,
You are the same people who were cheering "Joe the Idiot" who did not even pay taxes on the 40,000 he made.
Everyone is consistently speaking of Ronald Regan's administration. But personally those years for me where awful.
- 3 votes
I cant say government policy has made much difference in my life except in my tax rate, I think we have been conditioned to give the government too much credit and too much power, which of course is exactly the way they like it. The majority of things the government officials take credit for are outside of their control, but the herd follows the one who makes the most noise. Like the rooster who crows because he made the sun come up.
It is amusing to hear those bitter people in the opposition speaking of the destruction of our country as we know it. This comes from the backdrop of people dancing in the street, tearful and joyous shouts from whites and blacks, the international community dancing in the street as they witness the old order of hatred and xenophobia fade away. I hear cries from the right that we are in the final days and in a way they are correct. We are in the final days of the hatred and partisan politics that those bloggers aspire to. Change is fearful but as Americans ALWAYS do they rise to the challenge ,put their fear in check and rely on the better angels of our nature.

Joe, I am sensing a lot of bitterness oozing up from both sides, the idea that partisanship is over and everyone will soon be joining hands for a sing a long isn't demonstrated by the comments I am reading from either side. maybe I am missing something as I read the partisan love letters here.
- 1 vote
And the things you speak of can be attributed to Obama, how?
- 2 votes
Let's see: Sen. Obama made a lot of bull$hit promises in order to get elected. He told people what they wanted to hear. And how is this different from any other politician?
- 1 vote
Remember in the 90'swhen the media elites were telling us what a marvelous political attribute lying was? Whats going on now is just a fact of life, watch these guys and hold their feet to the fire, promises were made. Politicians are what they are and time will tell if this one is any different. But lets see, we don't know what will happen yet. The partisan flame throwing from both sides accomplishes nothing. If and when the time is right present facts, the truly enlightened will listen the others are beyond help.
Rightly, isn't that what they all do!! Met there is no unity and will not be any as long as "that " man is in there! And that is not bitter grapes but just my OPINION!

In response to HolyCow, what words aren't racist?? Really you can't hardly say anything without offending someone,,, it is absolutely amazing that the racial issue hasn't been touched on by our "HOPE", "CHANGE", President elect Obama. After all he wants unity,, we will see what he does when the racial divide gets worse. Just curious how is it that he is African American when he has roots in two races and multi-cultures. He of all people represents the "melting pot" of America and he should just be termed and "American", and not defined by his skin color. By stressing the race issue it only demeans and distracts his actually mission. And if you were a true supporter of him,,,you would stand up and say race has nothing to do with it, his abilities transcend his physical being. Yet nobody will say that why????

MSNBC today concluded what I have said all along.
The winner will be the loser in the long run.
America has many problems right now and is impatient. The media has deified Obama so he must perform and perform fast or my guess his is a 4 year presidency.
I guess Biden was correct, we WILL face an international crisis in the first 180 days: Russia is already lining up missiles on NATO borders!!! Just what we need! Oh, but I forgot, the Messiah and Greek god will take care of everything with some "negotiations". Is Jeremiah Wright going to hold the swearing-in Bible?
- 5 votes
Russia has been doing this before the election. Just like they have bombers in Venezuela. It is because our armed forces are spread thin and tired; not because of our newly elected president. You are still trying to twist and manipulate events in a negative way. All current happenings are the result of failed antiquated policies of the Bush administration.
How can you even think that any of the current mess can be atributed to an election result less than 24 hours old. You are not even sensible. Dare I say; you are borderline retarded!
We can only become strong again, by pulling out of Iraq, and reconstituting our forces.
- 6 votes
How can we be attacked now... we were told that if Obama is elected that the world will like us again... wasn't that a part of it??? Bush made the world hate us and Obama will make the world love us. So why would anyone attack us??? Obama is here and now there is peace and love in the world.

This is part of what's wrong with American youth - you can't delay gratification. You don't know what sacrifice means. You'd think growing up in the information age you would have listened more to what was being said during the campaign. Change doesn't occur overnight.

Now we will see if obama can remember all the tall tales and promises he made. I'm betting not.

Spree........ your vision of our country has hit an all time low This makes me concerned as to what "vision" you have. It is interesting that all you bitter racists and xenophobes have plenty to criticize but will not offer solutions, or work with the other side to make change happen. You all are so well entrenched in your fears and hatreds that you will miss this historic opportunity . You will slander, whine, and lick your wounds until 2012 when your bigotry and hatred will reassert itself. If we as Americans do our job your cries will be less and less heard until you are looked upon as dinosaurs of an age where narrow minded government ruled the day.

Adding to a previous inquiry regarding the inauguration, will he use the bible or the Koran at the swearing-in?
Our country has hit an all time low point... I just cannot believe im alive to witness the "tear down" of America. Time to gather up arms, because the sheet is going to hit the fan.
It will be more rights for africans, and immigrants.
the rest will be screwed.
In a year all the ignorant people who voted for this animal will be able to tell it was just the "popularity" vote.... and with no experience we are all screwed.

Shut up! You sound like a very prejudiced person. Under our constitution, ALL citizens have equal rights regardless of race, color, national origin or religion. Or, do you want to change this? I was so proud to hear that a non-wasp was elected (and I'm a white Christian senior citizen)! It gives me hope that some day all people of the USA will be judged by the content of their character (as Dr. King said) - not how they look or talk.

spree, were you born ignorant or is it an inherited trait. waaa waaa. We gave your iduiot 8 years and look where we are now. Of course Obama cannot fix all of bushe's screw ups in 1 year. But you can damn well bet he will be trying.I am really sick of hearing you pukes whine and cry. we will fix America or we will go down fighting to do so. Give your new President a chance. Certainly he can't do worse than the last dumbass

yes, but he was the best dumbass ever!, just look around you......
The republicans can thank Mr. Bush and themselves for Obama's win. These past four years have been terrible years for our country. Mr. Bush will be remembered in history as the "worst president in history"!! He leaves us with the highest deficit in history, a never ending war, a recession (almost a depression) and they wonder why Obama won??
- 3 votes
Past eight years! On the surface, but if you dig deeper; you will find it was his father who initially armed and trained all the terrorist we now hunt. This was done when he was the director of the CIA.

bush was the worst president SO FAR... we have just elected his successor who will be far worse than bush ever was. i can no longer assign myself to a party... they are all the same, but now we have an inexperienced smooth talker who doesnt know the first thing about running a country as our president... god help us all for we are surely doomed... people voted for obama because they are anti-republican; not all republicans are the same... it's like saying all jewish people are cheap or all black people are lazy... if we shouldnt judge eachother based on stereotypes, then why did we vote based on a stereotype?
I do not mind at all that Senator Obama won the election but I do not agree with his "entitlement" plans so that is why he did not get my vote among a few other things. He will only earn my vote in the next election if there is true progress made for all not just for those who think they are "entitled".
My concern is that this is a person who would not be able to be hired as an agent for the CIA or FBI because of his background, albeit years ago, but he could be elected President?

You can blame who ever you want to blame but he will never be my president!

Debbie, I have to agree with you, but as they say, you can run but sooner or later you will be caught. He had his mind on winning, so now I think he will let his guard down and slip ups will be made and the truth about him will surface.
He didn't win with the liberal vote alone---he won with the uneducated vote and I was sick of them calling Republicans rednecks and uneducated. He won because of his color and no other reason and I am not even close to being a racist as one of my best friends is black. I hate racism in any form. But when one of voter's parents or grandparents get to an age where health care will not be given to them, then they will realize what health plan he was going to implement. Today is certainly the day of change but I am afraid it's not going to be the change he spoke of.
- 3 votes
Debbie, Box of Chocolates - You have both made excellent points. As Americans, Obama supporters and the rest of us need to say one thing to President Elect Obama at this stage of the game. That one statement is "President Obama, Show us the change!"
He deserves 90 days after the inauguration to prove he is not just a typical political stooge. I will even give him 24 months to get the troops out of Iraq, as long as he brings them home, does not count if they are sent to another country. Remember he promised he would have them out of Iraq in 16 months.
For all the Obama supporters, I hope that you will be going to work, paying your bills and watching as your hopes fade as quickly as his promises.
- 1 vote
I also hope the McCain supporters will be going to work, paying your bills and working to improve this country.
This Democrats family, frIends and associates all go to work and pay their bills.
Many Republicans voted for Obama as well.
And yes, I want to see some changes, but no person can do it alone. To state you are so educated in these posts, but then type uneducated, not willing to work and try statements is DUMB.

Re entitlement plans...have you seen the YouTube video where the black woman is crying when the announcement was made that Obama had won? She is saying "Now I won't have to worry about gas for my car and I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage! He's gonna take care of me!"
Re entitlement plans...have you seen the YouTube video where the black woman is crying when the announcement was made that Obama had won? She is saying "Now I won't have to worry about gas for my car and I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage! He's gonna take care of me!"
It would seem that the people who are bellyaching about our new President are the same ones who thought George W. Bush would be a great President. They were wrong when they voted for Bush, and they are, in all likelyhood, wrong now. Let's wait and see and hope for the best. Let's give our new President a chance to prove his worth. He can't be any worse than the current President, can he?
- 5 votes
Crossfire, you assumption is WRONG! What is it with you Dems always trying to link a George supporter with someones true opinion???? And the move to another country comment is totally uncalled for and you wonder why people call folks like you names. Stop being so childish and respect others opinion!!!
- 3 votes
Concerned One....I am not a Dem. I'm an Independent and name calling doesn't bother me much. As to the comment about a move to another country, if you are an American, then Obama will be your new President, like it or not. I'm not "assuming" that voting for Bush was wrong. The proof is in the pudding.
- 3 votes
crossfire, you should have told the Dems that back in 2004 when 76% of them made the same comment so I have that same RIGHT!!!
- 2 votes
Concerned One....You have every right to make any comment you like, as do I. I don't recall any Dems saying that Bush was not their President, let alone 76%. Where did you come up with that figure?
- 2 votes
I find both partys lacking in almost every aspect and am working to see them thrown on their ears when the population wakes up, but Mr Obama is the President elect and will be the President. As I read the idiotic partisan banter from both sides I wonder if anyone listened to his and Mr McCains call for unity. Folks we are up to our eyeballs in crap, it was a bipartisan effort in my view. Putting that aside because we reelected them, I plan to watch our leaders very closely and I expect accountability, if we would do that and quit calling each other names we might at least get these partisan's we reelected to do their jobs. The democrat or republican citizen you resent is not the problem, if you want better government open your eyes expect more and call it like it is not through partisan blinders. If you really think its important for the government to rule your life, then make them do their job! They have stunk up the joint for the last couple of hundred years or so...
dizbang--While I supported McCain, I do agree that the last 4 Bush years were worse than terrible--call a spade a spade!! What does concern me is the lack of insight people have for WHY Bush had problems. We know Iraq and Afghanistan are the big ticket items, but what about the "natural" disasters? He could NOT help that and did the right thing helping people--that is what government does--HELP people, not run their lives. Many, many of our great states suffered ruin from floods and hurricane damage, tornadoes and whatever else God threw at us, this added to the deficit. Remember that before you make more comments. It would have been the same if a Democrat was in the White House-- they would have done the same-- and the American people would have it no less. We ARE the greatest, most generous nation on earth--let's not forget it.

“Zlio” - have you heard of this useful little e-Hobby that’s currently working wonders on the internet? It’s a weird name for a cool service which I’ve started to use, which allows you to create your own shop in less than five minutes! Yes Sir - all in five minutes, and no need to know HTML or even to deal with the usual headaches of creating a website! And now, I have my own online shop which I can personalize as much as I want and on which I can sell products which I’ve selected from a database of over three million - the only really tough thing was to think of a good name for the shop! All I really need to do, now, is to advertise my shop to other people and let them now about it, because I get a very cool commission (2% to 15%) every time someone buys something from me! But of course, I never need to handle the items myself - all of that’s dealt with for me!
When can I expect to recieve my first check that obama will give me from the money he takes from the rich and spreads to me and others not making $300,000, oh I mean $250,000, no wait it's $200,000, oh what a minute, it's $150,000???
Oh well, by the time he really gets to the cut off point in household income, I won't see a penny from those nasty rich people who earned all there money the hard way by working for it.

How long until I see my middle class taxes go up... that is the real question? First the Bush tax cuts will expire, then Obama will say things are worse than he thought so he is going to raise taxes again. Then companies burdened with higher taxes, giving them less cash flow will raise their prices to me. I am excited and simply just cannot wait to pay more than I am today.

JEM0124
With the exception of the Big Three auto companies (which are now asking the taxpayers to bail them out) can you name THREE other products that are made in the United States? Nike shoes went offshore years ago, labor costs are next to nothing, but have they lowered the price of their shoes to pass their savings along to their customers? THAT WOULD BE A BIG FAT NO! With the exception of the local farmers market, try to find produce the is grown in the United States in your local Piggly Wiggly. I'm tired of reading all this BS that taxing the companies will drive jobs out of America and raise prices to consumers. Corporations have been screwing American consumers for years, even after getting tax breaks and bailouts. The biggest recipients of welfare in this country are the corporations (whose executives make millions while paying their foreign workers less for a weeks work than American workers make in an HOUR and the farmers who are paid NOT to grow crops!)
tessainmo...
You are right, the bailout was wrong and the government should not bail out the BIG 3 as that is just a bail out for Wall Street... let them go under so that there are over 100,000 jobs lost. Wait... that does not make any sense... maybe a bail out for companies does keep jobs... I am sure Reagan got it wrong when he bailed out Chrysler which saved thousands of jobs... right??? Can't see past the fog to see the truth can you?
Second, if taxes make no difference on jobs and prices, why do we not tax corporations at 90%? Duh... because it makes a difference... get over it!

We'll see just where Obama's big mouth takes him. He's all glitter and no substance. He hasn't given a clue as to what he intends to do about the economy or defense of this country. He's not my president and I don't intend to work either with him or his flunkies. Obama is a larger embarrassment than the Clintons, but the Clintons at least had some experience before going on the job. Obama only has poor judgment and no experience.

No Tammie, they are not here, but they were on another seed last night gloating so much I wanted to puck!
Tammie, the opportunity is just WORK hard like everyone else does and there will be rewards. Not everyone that makes that magic number had it given to them, they work darn hard for it and now you want some! Get it like most hard working people do WORK FOR IT!!!!@ And as far as the whining comment, wait you will be doing the same thing when he doesn't follow through with all his empty promises!!!

Wow-ticked some people off here, I do work I get up everyday and go to work and I work hard for my money and I would like to keep a little more of it. Don't just assume because I have a different opinion that I don't work or that I don't have a good paying job because I do. But it is time for the rich to carry the burden of the taxes now, give the middle class the opportunity to move forward.
- 2 votes
Tammie! Go ahead & believe the lies from the Democrats about the middle class getting more.
I don't think so, did you see Obama's tax numbers drop from $250K down to possibly $120K. We barely make the bottom number & we are taxed out the --- right now. Taxes on my 3,400 sg ft home is $6000.00 a year! That's an additional $500.00 a month income to pay this.
Plus our state tax on clothes etc is at 9%. Our gas is taxed, the booze is really taxed. This is because of the Democrats, yes this is how they spread the wealth.
I will stop buying, hoard my money get my guns & hunker down for those terrorist/Iran... to come and buy us when we hit the depression. Oh yeah, the Great MS America will be sold or taken over...and this is not panic it's believable.
- 2 votes
Oh heck Tammie, I need to leave, but I have to tell you, that most of the people who pay taxes are people making just above the $250,000 mark. I hope you don't work for a small business like that, because you may be clearing your desk soon. These are the people who work hard for us, not the filthy rich like good ole oprah---she looks down on poor people and so will he---just wait and see.
We all have to work hard to keep this country going. Most common people who become well to do have worked hard for that money and invested it wisely----do the same instead of waiting for a hand out that you didn't earn. We were once considered middle class and we have fallen to the lower middle and my husband works hard every day. I can no longer work because I am disabled, so maybe a free check might help us too, but I don't want something I didn't earn.

Tammie....I don't think you ticked them off. They've been ticked of since last night because they didn't get what they wanted. As for assumptions, they are full of them. That's not your fault either.

Tammie, the burden of the taxes that we pay is felt by all and why should one group pay less the others?? And you want to move forward ,you need to do that by educating yourself for better jobs, by investing money for the future, must I go on!

Tammie, I make 50k a year and I am worried that I am going to have my taxes increased. So, I will be hung out to dry twice once by the loss of the Bush tax cut and the other by Obam's plan which will end up costing my job.

Tammie, It's obvious that Concerned One has never heard of the progressive tax system that we've had since early last century (1915 or so). I'm pretty sure he also can't tell you when supply-side (trickle-down) economics has ever worked in this country.
I love how people on these boards assume that all poor people are poor because they don't work hard. That's the biggest load of crap. If you're born into a poor family or neighborhood even if you do work hard everyday of your life you start of at a HUGE disadvantage. You people are going to tell me that people like Paris Hilton who were born into wealthy families work for their money? That's all that Obama is talking about, people like Paris Hilton can afford to pay more in taxes so that someone making 30-40-50K a year can have a little bit more money in their pocket

The Gap between the rich and the poor is growing more and more and this present crisis will make the gap even larger. Who do you think is going to have the money to invest in low priced stocks and real estate in the next few years (hint: richer people) and that will make them even richer when those stocks and buildings increase in value.
Concerned one:
And you want to move forward ,you need to do that by educating yourself for better jobs, by investing money for the future, must I go on!
LOL you're very funny, because someone working 60-70 hours a week at minimum wage trying to raise a family, has extra money to invest and 30k to spend on College!!!

Why are you implying the only people who have earned anything are republican supporters?
Republicans are not the only ones who have worked hard for their success.

What opportunities might those be Tammie-547116? I happen to be a hard working middle class American and I do not see what opportunities Obama is affording me.
I am neither a republican or democrat and I pay a load of taxes and don't want to pay any more than I do now, I dont think I am selfish as Itry to support independent agencies that are far more efficient than the government in how it distributes its funds. I do however get rather tired of others defining me. The top wage earners already pay a large percentage of the taxes levied in this country. For some it isn't enough, for those who pay it is quite a burden. Interestingly enough some of us have been hit rather hard by the slowdown and are working our butts off to compensate for the slowdown, a second hit through higher taxes will make it difficult to justify the effort. Adding more expense to doing business (which by the way is passed on to my customers whenever possible) seems a bit much. I work very hard for my income and pay a my share of taxes, I resent the envy of my success manifested by even higher taxes.
I kept my children home today. There is going to be alot uppity bs going on today.

The only bs being portrayed is coming from you and those like you. The rest of us are waiting for Bush to get out of the way so we can get down to business of getting this country healthy again.
By you keeping them home you have just successfully taught your children prejudice.
- 2 votes
InJustice.....are you serious? Prejudice? WOW- it's people like you that fuel prejudice & hatred!!!
- 1 vote
uppity? haven't heard that used for a while and I am not crazy about hearing it now, teach your kids tolerance and understanding it will serve them well.
I wonder how many drug heads went in with a piece of paper with names written on it so they wouldn't forget who to vote for and how many were illegals. For me only the last 2 years have been bad, but I believe that this will be by far the worst 4 years ever.
He will probably bring the troops home but now we will need them to fight here in our own country. This man is going to be tested soon and it won't be across the seas. Good day everyone.

Box of Chocolates.....Thanks for the laugh. When I was voting yesterday there was a guy who had to redo his ballot not once, not twice but three times because he filled in too many circles. He had his piece of paper with names. Too hilarious. There should be a test for voters and if you don't pass...you can't vote. Thanks again for the chuckle!

From what I hear, the Troops hate Obama.
Obama is not a leader!
Obama wanted his picture taken with them & they had no respect for him.

Pitbull - There were quite a few reports in the news that the troops overwhelming were supporting McCain...which makes you wonder why they ended up "holding" those absentee ballots?? I also know a few soldiers or family of soldiers and they said the same thing. The troops know a difference has been made and want to finish that job. Also, Obama may take them out of Iraq, but in the last few months, he has stated he will turn our attention and send those trips to Afghanistan. Same fight, same losses, just a different location.
I supported McCain because I was never able to find an actual plan or way to execute the "change" Obama said he would bring. I couldn't find one person to give me an explanation of why they were supporting him other than that they wanted change. I hope and pray for my daughter's sake that somehow with him as president and the democrat congress that he is able to fulfill the promises he spewed during the election in a way to benefit all americans and not just a few. I don't think it is right to punish someone because they are successful. If they want to donate to charity that is their business and right to do so and no one should be forced to give it away.

'benefit all Americans, and not just a few"????? Spoken like a true Republican!!! That has been the Republican policy for a LONG, LONG time.
- 1 vote
Actually I am an independent that voted for both republicans and democrats when I voted this year as I do every election...I just don't feel I need to carry anyone else's financial burdens. Obama has talked a lot of talk without lying out how it's going to work. I can say I will end world hunger, bring peace, give all my employees raises...but without some plan or financial backing, it isn't going to happen. This isn't a republican vs democrat issue...it is a matter of common sense.

That's funny! I just retired from service in Feb 2007; and I still work for the Army. I have not witnessed this lack of support for Obama. It is really the opposite. Only a very few supported McCain. Remember McCain has consistently voted against improvements for service members.
And do not be mistaken; there is no love for Bush. Soldiers have a sense of duty, but there is very little respect for Bush!

America accepts the challenge. In this diverse nation we have all the tools to better things!!
Congratulations to the majority for their victory!!
Note I didn't congratulate just the Democrats. I don't believe just the Democrats won this election. I'm dissappointed, but I won't dwell on it.
Now, let's all get on with the job of bettering America and see if we can accomplish something beneficial for all.
America the Beautiful!! Love her or Leave Her!!

Bill....Good post. Even McCain said he will do everything in his power to help the new President.
- 2 votes
Bill, so we are going to do that by redistributingthe wealth???? And as far as the love her or leave her comment, were not going to leave, were going to fight for what is right not just whats right for the ones that want a free hand out! I have ALWAYS been proud of my country and will not disrespect the American flag not like the ones that will soon take office!!! God Bless Our America!!!@

crossfire, he has to say that just like Clinton's had to say that, they all have to be good little solders and don't step out of line.
McCain knows Obama is going to need the HELP! No man that was tortured for 5 years straight wants his country to die! That's why he lived.
Who was the guy with Obama's face pasted on the American flag? I tell you, Obama never wore a flag pin, probably doesn't know the words to the allegiance or can sing America the beautiful word for word!!
Pitbull....You're wrong about the flag pin. Obama has been wearing one ever since a Viet Nam vet in PA. gave him one and asked him to wear it. On the other hand, I watched all 3 debates and Obama had his pin on and McCain didn't in any of the 3 debates. McCain didn't have a flag pin on last night either. You are assuming way too much.
- 2 votes
Crossfire, Let see they had to ASK him to wear one! What's wrong with that??????
Concerned One,
Take a chill pill!! And, if that doesn't work continue with your cynical B.S.. It'll take more than that, though, to get back what you think you've lost. Majority rule, baby. It's been that way since The Mayflower Compact. One man, one vote. Get used to it.
- 1 vote
Concerned One...."THEY" didn't ask him. One Viet Nam vet asked him. Someone should have "asked" McCain to wear one because he hasn't been wearing one, so your arguement doesn't make any sense. Obama needs to wear a pin, but McCain doesn't ???
- 2 votes
Kind of off subject, but, did anyone notice that Palin mostly wore an Alaska pin (and not an American flag pin) throughout the campaign?
- 1 vote
Once again empty rhetoric! Most of the people I work with are retired military like me and non of us wear US Flag Pins. So are we less American? We have fought for our country, but we appreciate you telling us; not wearing a pin negates our contributions. Thank you!

Middle class will not be represented m[by Obama. Main street lossed out to bailouts so banks are in control. The best e]we can hope for an end of Iraq war and avoid og aaaaaairan war.
I wonder who will be paying for his wife's new wardrobe because I doubt that she will continue wearing what she did during the campaign, so all of you who knocked Sarah Palin, eat your own words now.

Box of Chocolates....I'm sure the President's salary is high enough that he will be able to afford to dress his wife.

I thought his salary was high already---how did he afford that million dollar house they live in????????

Pitbull--It WAS ugly. With all of their ill-gotten money, can't she buy something decent and attractive? Why didn't her pal Okra Winfrey lend her some rags?

Box, uh let's see. He makes about $160,000, she was making about $300,000 and he wrote two relatively successful books. You know..... he worked for it.

And once his term is finished Barack Obama can live on his Government pension for the rest of his life with Government provided body guards. Retirement at 50 with full benefits and bodyguards for the rest of his life. Wish I could get a government pension at 50.
- 1 vote
That isn't any different than any previous president, including the one in the white house right now. I believe, John McCain is currently receiving his senate paycheck, military pension and social security.

You really have to admit that is the ugliest dress ever. She needed to spend alittle more time picking out an outfit for her husband's Victory rally. Obama himself said he does not like the clothes Michelle picks out for him. I can see why!
- 1 vote
Crossfire, Let's see they had to ASK him to wear one!!!! What's wrong with that????
- 1 vote
Concerned One....Why are you concerned about Obama, but not about McCain? McCain didn't wear a flag pin during any of the 3 debates and he didn't have one on last night. Does that make him unpatriotic? Move on, please. Your weak arguements just don't wash. Sorry.

"It has finally come! I can't wait until Jan 20, 2009 when I can count on my check being in the mail, when I don't have to bow down to the man anymore!!!!! I may quit my job, collect my check and go back to school and chill for a few years, the rich jerks with all the money will now foot the bill for "real" people!" This may be the dumbest thing I have ever heard, but it was on aired numerous times yesterday..... How in the hell did America fall so far that we now think that ww will no longer need to work, that we can sit on or butts and collect a check? Socialism has failed and led countries to never ending turmoil, today may be the worst day in the history of America! The day that the founding fathers feared would happen, the day when the American revoloution meant nothing.....

I will now due to Obama Policies have to reduce my work force about 18% and this will come from jobs that are not essential and from the more recent hires...thus it will be mostly blacks and younger employees...so obama can now take my over charged taxes and give it to the people i had to lay off so they can sit at home and practice their hip hop and ghetto language...what a country....i wonder how long till i have to hear and see Obama youth and their little nazi outfits in the streets

I actually had 14 people not show for work today and everyone black except one pregnant woman...well least i know the first 13 i fire

Companies are already doing the same thing you meantion. We are going backwards not forward. People who own companies with employee's are selling them & retiring!
They won't be able to afford them under Obama's ruling. These dumb little boozing college dweebs are ruining America!
Obama did not win the majority of white college educated citizen's. He won the white non educated non-college vote.
Be so proud Obama!
Tristen...quit lying you don't even sound intelligent enough to have a job much less own a business
